Our Testimony of Jesus Christ and His True Church
We believe in Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice for all mankind. He is the Only Begotten Son of God the Father. We believe in the Godhead consisting of God the Father, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost as three separate personages being one in purpose. Christ came to do the will of the Father and taught by example. He established his true church, healed the sick, performed miracles, suffered and died for us. He was crucified and resurrected on the third day. Many testified that they saw him, talked and ate with him. Our Savior, Jesus Christ lives and is our advocate and mediator with the Father. He pleads in our behalf as we pray to our Heavenly Father in Jesus name the only name in Heaven by which we can come unto the Father. We prepare for his second coming and Day of Judgment. He will judge us all by our works and deeds according to his gospel principles. We believe in his saving grace after all we can do through obedience to his divine laws and commandments. The purpose of life is to know God and His Son Jesus Christ, be baptized, walk by faith and keep the commandments, and follow our prophet who receives direct revelation to guide and direct the affairs of Christ’s true church—The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We invite all to come unto Christ, feast upon his words, and learn about the Plan of Salvation that we may return to him one day!
The Book of Mormon—Another Testament of Jesus Christ
We believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. The Book of Mormon was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith through the power of God. We believe the Holy Bible to be true as far as it is translated correctly. Both books testify of Jesus Christ and his teachings. During the three days before his resurrection, Christ came to visit and teach his “other sheep” in the American Continent (John 10:16). The Book of Mormon was written for our day and will lead us to Christ. As you read, ponder, and pray the Holy Ghost will testify of the truthfulness it contains as it has to us. We invite you to partake of the promise given to all, who are sincerely seeking truth, and prayerfully read the Book of Mormon—Moroni 10: 4-5 or pg. 529:
"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye
would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these
things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real
intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you,
by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost
ye may know the truth of all things."
If you believe in the Holy Bible you will believe in the Book of Mormon. If you believe in the Book of Mormon you will believe in Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith and The Restoration
The prophet Joseph Smith restored the gospel and true church of Jesus Christ through divine power. As many of us, the boy prophet wanted to find and join the true church. During the early 1800s there was a great stir and religious revolution taking place in America. Young Joseph attended different religious sects in search for truth but found they contradicted each other. One night as he read his scriptures he came across James 1:5-6 which was an answer to his prayer:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men
liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him
ask in faith, nothing wavering."
Joseph did as prompted by the Spirit and went into a grove of trees to kneel and pray to God to know which church to join. Joseph did not only receive an answer but a glorious vision of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. He was instructed that he was not to join any church for none were true. He was further instructed that he was chosen to restore God’s true church, as it existed in ancient days.
Joseph Smith was divinely tutored and led to the golden plates, which had been buried to come forth in the latter-days, from which he translated the Book of Mormon. Joseph received the keys of the restoration directly from God through his servants. Peter, James, and John appeared to Joseph Smith and conferred the Holy Priesthood by the laying on of hands. Joseph endured tremendous opposition and persecution for never denying his divine experiences and what he knew to be true and in the end sealed his testimony in blood when he was brutally murdered in cold blood by a mob of evil men. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. We know these things to be true by the power of the Holy Ghost, which bears witness to our hearts.
We humbly bear our testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
